Meet Founder: Henika

Henika is the founder of the School of Sensual Arts. She is a first generation Indian Woman born in England and grew up in a household abundant in the ancient Indian arts, with an ex-monk turned artist father. After studying English and French law and experiencing numbness and depression following a series of losses, she left the corporate world and returned to her roots where she spent several years living and studying in Asia, learning from incredible guides in India and the Far East. Upon returning to England, she began her studies in arts therapy and clinical psychotherapy for individuals and couples, and now combines tantra and yoga with western therapeutic guidelines to create safe spaces to connect more deeply, express more freely and love more intimately through Tantra, Yoga, bodywork, dance and art. As an indigenous practitioner, she is also a thought leader on the topic of cultural appropriation of Tantra and yoga and provides education on driving more cultural appreciation in the wellness world through her workshops, programmes and social media. She has taught on teacher trainings around the world to educate on the roots of Tantra and Yoga as well as teaching at major festivals such as Mind Body Spirit, Boomtown and Lost Village.

Meet Resident Teacher:
Manoj

Manoj is a resident teacher in the Tantra Yoga Community at the School of Sensual Arts. He brings together his experience in traditional Hatha yoga, classical kundalini, Yin, sacred sound and Ayurveda. His exposure to yoga began by observing the commitment level his parents enjoyed to traditional Hatha yoga and pranayama, and seeing the positive impact it had on their health andoverall outlook. Manoj took a change in direction in life and embarked on a healing journey to use yoga as a way to free himself from stress and depression, along with the residual effects of cancer.

After many trips to India for exploration and study,, he spent months living in Rishikesh, India, in the Himalayas to train in Yoga. Music and singing has been a constant in Manoj’s life during his time in India and spending time in temples in his youth. He leads Kirtan, which is the sacred group chanting of mantra, and plays harmonium, gong and crystal bowls to help to bring the community together in healing spaces and bring joy to peoples’ lives.
